Brandon and I got to spend 4 days in Kauai! It was truly soooo beautiful. I was in heaven! It was perfect because we had just celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary and it was great to just be together...the two of us! Thanks to Courtney and to Bob and Janet for watching Noah and Brynnley! We really needed this little vacation!
Here is a run down of the 4 days:
Day 1- We got to Kauai in the afternoon, checked in to the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in! The hotel was the Marriott resort and beach club in Lihue. We then went and at dinner overlooking the ocean from Duke's restaurant.
Day 2- We got up early and decided to drive around one side of the island. We wanted to see Kipu falls, so we finally found a little trail...if you can call it a trail...through a jungle basically. After crossing rocks through a river, we came to the waterfall. There was a rope swing so you could jump into the lake beneath the falls. Brandon jumped off of that and off of the top of the waterfall. Being about 5 months pregnant...I took pictures! Oh...and I got eaten alive by mosquitoes. I didn't realize how bad it was until that night...I counted 86 bites! So incredibly itchy...I wanted to cry:( We also ate lunch at a little hamburger place called Bubbas. We found a pretty private beach and laid out and we drove around some more.
Day 3- We woke up early again...off to get Benedryl and Caladryl for my legs! Then drove to some more waterfalls and we got to see the Grand Canyon of the South Pacific! I think it is called Waimea?! We went all the way up to the north and drove through princeville and to the top...as far as you can drive...to see the caves. Literally you can drive the whole island (the perimeter) in like 1 1/2 hours! We found a beach called "Secret Beach" It was SO beautiful and secluded. We hiked over a lot of rocks and found Lava Pools. We came to a little waterfall and got to see the lava pools and where the fresh water meets the ocean. It was amazing to see! I have never seen anything like it! I barely made the hike back up to the street...it was steep, I was hot and pregnant! ha ha! We went back to the hotel and swam in the ocean, the pool and then we headed out for dinner. We went to dinner in Poipu at a restaurant overlooking the ocean called "The Beach House." We got our reservation right at sunset and it was beautiful! A great last night in Kauai.
Day 4- We laid out by the pool, drove around, got souvenirs for the kids, ate lunch at Kalapaki Beach Hut and laid in a hammock for 2 hours. Then we were off to our red eye flight back home! We arrived home the next morning, early, and it was great to see Noah and Brynnley! We missed them so much! It was great to hug them and hold them again!
It was a wonderful trip! The island was beautiful and lush! There were chickens and roosters all over the place! The oceans were amazing and to see so many beautiful waterfalls was fun. I guess all of Brandon's traveling has some benefits...free hotel, free rental car and ALMOST free airfare! No wonder we splurged on yummy food!
